Marina Match Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: 08 July 2026

At Marina Match, every marina operates differently. To provide flexibility for both marina operators and boaters, each marina chooses its own cancellation policy when creating a listing.

The selected cancellation policy is displayed on the listing page before a booking is confirmed. By completing a booking, the boater agrees to the cancellation policy chosen by the marina.

Marina Match acts solely as the booking platform. Refund eligibility is determined by the marina’s selected cancellation policy, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

Additional Terms

Early Departure

If a boater departs before the scheduled departure date, no refund will be provided for the unused portion of the booking unless the marina chooses to issue a full or partial refund at its sole discretion.

No-Show

A booking will be treated as a no-show if the boater fails to arrive without notifying the marina before the scheduled arrival time. Refunds will be determined in accordance with the selected cancellation policy.

Reservation Changes

Requests to change arrival or departure dates are subject to marina approval, berth availability and any applicable price adjustment. Changes requested after the applicable cancellation period may be treated as a cancellation and a new booking.

Cancellation by the Marina or jetty owenr

If a marina cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its control, the boater will receive a full refund. Where possible, Marina Match may assist the boater in locating an alternative berth.

Weather Conditions

Boating is inherently affected by weather and sea conditions. Marina Match encourages marina operators and boaters to communicate as early as possible if adverse weather may affect a planned arrival or departure.

Where weather conditions may reasonably impact a boater's ability to safely travel to or from the marina, the boater should contact the marina or private dock owner to discuss available options. Subject to availability and the marina's discretion, the parties may agree to:

  • amend the arrival and/or departure dates;
  • postpone the booking to a mutually agreed future date;
  • apply the booking value as a credit towards a future stay; or
  • proceed with a refund in accordance with the marina's selected cancellation policy or at the marina's discretion.

Normal weather conditions, including rain, moderate winds, tides, or routine sea conditions, do not automatically entitle a boater to a refund.

However, exceptional weather or safety-related events may be considered where they significantly affect the safe operation or navigation of vessels, including:

  • cyclone or hurricane warnings;
  • severe weather warnings issued by the relevant meteorological authority;
  • dangerous sea or swell conditions;
  • flooding or storm surge affecting marina access;
  • official closure of the marina or port;
  • government or harbour authority restrictions preventing vessel access; or
  • other circumstances that make travel unsafe or impracticable.

Where possible, Marina Match encourages marinas and boaters to work together in good faith to reschedule the booking rather than cancel it. Rescheduling often provides the best outcome for both parties and helps avoid unnecessary cancellation costs.

If the parties are unable to reach an agreement, the marina's selected cancellation policy will apply unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Force Majeure

Boating is subject to conditions beyond the reasonable control of both marina operators and boaters. Neither party will be considered in breach of their obligations where the booking cannot reasonably proceed due to a Force Majeure Event.

A Force Majeure Event includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cyclones, hurricanes, severe storms or storm surges;
  • Floods, bushfires, earthquakes or other natural disasters;
  • Dangerous sea, swell or navigation conditions that make travel unsafe;
  • Harbour, port, waterway or marina closures;
  • Government restrictions, emergency declarations or evacuation orders;
  • Pandemics or public health emergencies;
  • Failure or closure of essential navigation infrastructure, including locks, bridges or channels;
  • Acts of war, terrorism, civil unrest or industrial action;
  • Marine accidents, environmental incidents or pollution events that restrict access;
  • Any other event beyond the reasonable control of the marina or the boater that prevents safe access to, or use of, the booked berth.

Where a Force Majeure Event affects a booking, the marina and boater are encouraged to communicate as soon as reasonably possible to determine the most appropriate outcome. Subject to availability and mutual agreement, the parties may choose to:

  • amend the arrival and/or departure dates;
  • postpone the booking to a mutually agreed future date;
  • apply the booking value as a credit towards a future booking; or
  • cancel the booking and provide a refund in accordance with the marina's selected cancellation policy or at the marina's discretion.

Marina Match encourages both parties to work together in good faith to reschedule bookings wherever reasonably possible, as this is often the most practical outcome for weather- or safety-related disruptions.

If the parties cannot reach an agreement, the marina's selected cancellation policy will apply unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Nothing in this clause limits any rights or remedies available under applicable consumer protection laws.

Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method. Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider and the boater’s financial institution.

Marina Match Service Fee

Where a refund is approved under the applicable cancellation policy, the Marina Match service fee will also be refunded unless otherwise stated or required by law.

Payment Processing Fees

Third-party payment processing fees may be deducted from refundable amounts where permitted by applicable law.

Cancellation Policy Disclaimer

Marina Match is committed to providing clear, transparent, and fair cancellation policies that balance the interests of both marina operators and boaters. As every booking is unique, circumstances may arise that are not specifically addressed by the selected cancellation policy.

The cancellation policy selected by the marina at the time of booking forms part of the booking agreement and will generally determine the refund available if a booking is cancelled. However, Marina Match encourages all parties to communicate openly and work together to reach a fair outcome whenever unexpected circumstances occur.

Important Information

Each marina selects its own cancellation policy

Every marina, dock master, or private jetty owner chooses the cancellation policy that best suits their business. Boaters should carefully review the applicable policy before confirming a booking.

Communication is encouraged

Unexpected situations can occur. Marina Match encourages marina operators and boaters to communicate directly and, where possible, reach a mutually acceptable solution.

Discretionary refunds

Even where a cancellation policy states that no refund is available, a marina may choose to provide a full or partial refund at its sole discretion.

Unique circumstances

Some bookings may involve circumstances that require additional consideration, including:

  • Long-term berth rentals
  • Seasonal bookings
  • Special events or regattas
  • Emergency situations
  • Medical emergencies
  • Vessel breakdowns or mechanical failures
  • Government restrictions or access limitations

Where appropriate, Marina Match encourages reasonable and practical solutions that are fair to both parties.

Force Majeure

Events beyond the reasonable control of either party—including severe weather, cyclones, floods, bushfires, natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, or marina closures—will be assessed in accordance with the Force Majeure provisions of this Cancellation Policy.

Dispute Resolution

If the marina operator and boater are unable to resolve a cancellation or refund dispute, Marina Match may review the available information and assist the parties in reaching a fair resolution in accordance with the marina's selected cancellation policy, our Terms and Conditions, and any applicable laws. Marina Match may request supporting documentation where necessary.
