Description
Hillarys Boat Harbour is one of Western Australia’s premier boating and waterfront destinations, located on Perth’s northern coastline approximately 18 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Combining extensive marina facilities with dining, shopping, tourism and recreation, the harbour provides a convenient home port and stopover for recreational and commercial vessels exploring Perth’s metropolitan coastline and the waters of the Indian Ocean.
The harbour provides 410 Department of Transport-managed boat pens, with pen lengths ranging from approximately 10 metres to 33 metres. Accommodation includes catamaran pens and alongside berths, with short-term, casual and long-term vessel accommodation available subject to availability. Berth services include water, lighting and single-phase shore power, with three-phase power available on selected jetties. CCTV security is also provided around the boat pen facilities.
Hillarys is particularly well equipped for recreational boating. The harbour has six concrete boat ramps, trailer parking, wash-down facilities and a limited lay-by mooring area. A dedicated 24-hour fuel jetty is positioned just inside the harbour entrance and supplies both diesel and unleaded petrol, providing convenient refuelling for vessels heading offshore or cruising along the Western Australian coast.
Marine support services are available within the harbour precinct, including boat lifting, storage, maintenance and mechanical repair services, together with a chandlery. A service wharf provides power and water connections and can accommodate larger working vessels, while toilet and shower facilities are available for boat pen holders. The harbour entrance channel has a design depth of more than 4 metres.
Beyond its boating facilities, Hillarys Boat Harbour is a major coastal leisure destination. The surrounding waterfront precinct offers restaurants, cafés, speciality shops, accommodation and family attractions, including the Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA). The harbour also serves as a departure point for trips to Rottnest Island, making it a convenient gateway for visitors wanting to experience one of Western Australia’s best-known island destinations.
The harbour also offers accessible waterfront facilities, including a universal-access boat jetty, fishing platform, beach access pathway and accessible amenities. Walking areas, beaches and waterfront recreation make Hillarys attractive not only as a marina but also as a destination for boaters and their families.
