Description
Founded in 1869 as Sample’s Shipyard, The Shipyard continues the proud local tradition of New England shipbuilding, specializing in the maritime skills and trades that have made the region famous.
Our 700-ton marine railway has supported tall ships, superyachts, tugboats, fishing trawlers, Coast Guard vessels, and other service craft, including passenger boats and ferries. The 150-ton railway accommodates sailing yachts, workboats, schooners, and motor vessels. The 6,000-square-foot climate-controlled service bay features a state-of-the-art humidification system to protect wooden hulls and a low-dust environment ideal for yacht-quality varnishing and painting. A deck-level mezzanine ensures efficient staging of equipment and materials.
The Shipyard provides seasonal and transient moorings during summer and winter storage for boats needing protection during the off-season. With a second location on Southport Island, we double our storage capacity.
Conveniently located at the head of Boothbay Harbor in Mid-Coast Maine, The Shipyard offers a full range of repairs and services for all vessel types. Our highly trained, professional team has decades of experience, covering metalwork, mechanical services, paint and fiberglass, expert carpentry, hauling, and launching. At The Shipyard, everything you need is everything we do.
