Description
Jonesport Shipyard is a convenient stopover between Mount Desert Island and Canada, nestled in a well-protected cove on Moosabec Reach. The facility offers two moorings in the northwest corner of Sawyer Cove for transient boats up to 40′ with a 6′ draft, and five additional moorings outside the breakwater accommodating boats up to 60′. Locals and cruisers alike rely on the Shipyard for expert service, repair, maintenance, and storage.
Mooring guests have access to the dinghy dock, which has 7′ depth at mean high tide and is dry at low tide. Onshore, visitors can enjoy clean showers, laundry facilities, and a selection of marine supplies in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Approach Instructions:
From Moosabec Reach (east or west), turn into Sawyer Cove from the west end of the steel breakwater and proceed north through the mooring field. Inner-harbor moorings #26 & #28 are located from the breakwater; the balls are white with a blue stripe and labeled “Jonesport Shipyard.” The five moorings outside the breakwater are marked red or white with JSY #1–5.
