Welcome to Mattapoisett Harbor. Brownell moorings are centrally located in the harbor, just south of the Mattapoisett Town Dock, and can be easily identified by their cone-shaped buoys with an orange top and blue band. Nightly and short-term rentals are available, and harbor launch service is provided by Mattapoisett Boat Yard from May 1st through Columbus Day. Founded in 1954 by David (Fred) Brownell, inventor of the boat stand and hydraulic boat hauling trailer, Brownell Systems has been family owned and operated for over 65 years. The company operates a fleet of hydraulic boat hauling trailers and offers boat hauling, launching, and crane services at the Mattapoisett boat ramp, as well as over-the-road boat transport throughout New England and the Northeast United States. Brownell Systems also provides a do-it-yourself boat storage yard located one mile from Mattapoisett Harbor. Boaters can enjoy a clean, paved facility where owners and crew maintain full control of their vessels in a cooperative atmosphere. Winter storage customers may perform their own work or hire contractors directly. Each boat space includes access to electricity and water, with personal storage lockers available for tools and supplies, along with restrooms and vending machines located in the captain’s lounge.
