Description
Located in the heart of one of America’s most historic towns, Safe Harbor Hawthorne Cove serves as a gateway to Salem’s vibrant culture and the scenic North Shore. A rich maritime heritage blends seamlessly with modern upgrades, including a newly renovated wave-attenuating dock and a state-of-the-art marine service center—creating a distinctive New England home port.
Directions
As you approach the mouth of Salem Harbor, please hail the marina on VHF Channel 08.
For Slip Reservations:
Proceed to green daymark #23 at the edge of the mooring field for slip assignment and instructions. From there, continue to green can #25. At green can #25, you will see the corner of the face dock, positioned perpendicular to the ferry. A dockhand in a red shirt will assist you upon arrival. Please use caution near the hazard markers just off the face dock—this area is a mud flat with approximately 2 feet of water. Do not pass between the hazard markers.
For Mooring Reservations:
Hail the marina on VHF Channel 08 at the mouth of Salem Harbor and proceed to green daymark #23. You will be instructed either to hold position or continue to daymark #2, depending on your mooring assignment. A launch operator or dock staff member in a marina workboat will escort you to your transient mooring.
Navigation Considerations
At mean low water, mud and exposed intertidal areas are present west of the fairway and near C Dock toward Derby Wharf. Sand and mud areas in front of A & B Docks are not exposed at low water.
