Location on Raritan Bay Situated on the north coast of New Jersey in central Raritan Bay, the marina lies almost directly across from Great Kills Harbor on Staten Island and near the Keansburg Fishing Pier. A productive fishing area is charted just northeast of the pier. Marina access is southwest of the pier via the Point Comfort Channel, a 1,500-foot, day-marked channel with a depth of 7 feet at mean low water. Mariners are advised to remain at least half a nautical mile offshore when outside the channel, where the average depth is approximately 11 feet at mean low water. Fishing opportunities throughout the year include flounder, striped bass, bluefish, fluke, weakfish, porgies, sea bass, and blackfish. Directions by Land (From the North) Take the Garden State Parkway South to Exit 114 and turn left at the top of the ramp onto Red Hill Road. At the second traffic light, the road curves left—continue onto Van Schoick Road, which later becomes South Laurel and then Laurel Avenue. Proceed through nine traffic lights, crossing Highways 35 and 36 (look for a Sunoco station on the right at Highway 36). After crossing, the side streets are numbered; follow them down to First Street. Turn left onto First Street—the marina is approximately 300 yards ahead on the right at 75 First Street, Hazlet Township, West Keansburg. Directions by Land (From the South) Take the Garden State Parkway North to Exit 114 and turn right onto Red Hill Road. At the first traffic light, the road curves left—continue onto Van Schoick Road (later South Laurel and Laurel Avenue). Follow the same route through nine traffic lights over Highways 35 and 36, then continue down the numbered streets to First Street. Turn left onto First Street; the marina is about 300 yards ahead on the right at 75 First Street, Hazlet Township, West Keansburg. Directions by Water From Sandy Hook Point, steer approximately 270° magnetic for about 6 nautical miles to Keansburg Pier. Roughly 300 yards southwest of the pier’s tip is the Point Comfort Channel, a 1,500-foot, day-marked channel with a depth of 7 feet at mean low water (per NOAA charts). Continue on a heading of approximately 191° magnetic through the channel. The inlet is protected by a hurricane flood control gate—follow Inland Navigation Rules when visibility is restricted. After passing through the gate, steer to starboard toward Thornes Creek, keeping the marshland peninsula on your port side. After about 200 yards, steer to port into the marina’s main aisle and proceed to the floating finger piers along the bulkhead for transient docking. The marina office is located at 75 First Street near the vehicle entrance.
