Description

Inner Harbour Precinct This vibrant area is home to some of Tairāwhiti’s most popular restaurants and wine bars. It also features sites of cultural importance that can be discovered along the Tupapa Heritage Trail, as well as leading visitor attractions including the Tairāwhiti waka hourua, the MV Takitimu, and the historic Wa165 steam locomotive. We are committed to working closely with contractors and tenants, and to complying with all consent conditions, to minimise the impact of construction activities within the inner harbour wherever possible. About Eastland Port Situated in the heart of Gisborne, Eastland Port is New Zealand’s second-largest log exporter and the country’s most easterly commercial shipping port. It is recognised as the nation’s most efficient logging port. The region’s forestry sector continues to expand, creating employment and economic opportunities across the wider community. Log export volumes are increasing significantly. While the port currently has the capacity to manage 3 million tonnes of wood annually, it needs to expand capacity to handle more than 5 million tonnes per year.
