Port of Greymouth is located on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island at the mouth of the Grey River. The harbour entrance crosses a bar between breakwaters and leads to cargo wharves along the river, as well as fish unloading wharves and fishing vessel berths in Erua Moana Lagoon. Land Information New Zealand Chart NZ 7142, “Greymouth Harbour and Approaches,” details the entrance beacons. The maximum entrance draught is typically about 4.8 metres at neap tides and 5.5 metres at spring tides, although it can range between approximately 4.5 and 6 metres.
