Description
Okara Marina is a new marina located on the Hātea River in the heart of Whangārei’s marine precinct, on the seaward side of the Te Matau ā Pohe lifting bridge. The marina opened in late 2025 and provides modern berthing for local boat owners, cruising yachts and multihulls, with berths ranging from 10 to 35 metres and capacity for vessels with drafts of up to 3 metres.
The marina offers short-term and long-term berthing close to Whangārei’s Town Basin, with restaurants, cafés, shops and marine services within easy walking distance. The facility includes floating berths, power and fresh water, laundry, showers, toilets, security cameras and gated access, while the surrounding marine precinct provides extensive maintenance, refit and haul-out services.
