How Much Does a Marina Berth Cost? Understanding Boat Slip Rental Prices
Marina berth costs depend on location, vessel size, the rental period and what is included. Compare the total price for your boat and dates, rather than treating one advertised nightly rate as a typical market price.
A marina berth rental, private jetty and boat slip may offer different facilities and conditions. The most useful quote identifies the actual space, your vessel dimensions, the complete stay and any additional charges.
What do advertised berth prices look like?
The following Australian examples were reviewed on 23 October 2026. They show advertised starting prices, not confirmed availability or quotes for particular dates.
| Advertised listing | Location | Displayed starting price | Term to notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holdfast Shores Marina Pier A | Glenelg, South Australia | AUD 80 per night | Confirm dates and minimum stay |
| Yorkeys Knob | Yorkeys Knob, Queensland | AUD 62 per night | Confirm dates and minimum stay |
| Drummoyne NSW (Private) | Drummoyne, New South Wales | AUD 1,980 per month | Monthly price |
| “6month minimum Hammock place Marina” | Hope Island, Queensland | AUD 31 per night | Listing title specifies a six-month minimum |
Prices shown above come from Marina Match rental listings.
These are different spaces and rental arrangements, so they are not a like-for-like comparison or a regional average. In particular, the Hammock Place daily figure should not be read as a one-night offer. Recheck current prices, minimum terms and vessel suitability before booking.
Why do boat slip rental prices vary?
Several questions help explain the difference between quotes.
Where is the berth? Compare the waterway and access to your preferred cruising area, as well as the address. A cheaper space can mean a different journey by road or water.
What boat does the space accommodate? Check length overall, beam and draft. A wide catamaran may need an allocation that is priced differently from a monohull berth.
When and for how long will you stay? Request prices for your actual dates. A long-term offer may carry a minimum commitment that is unsuitable for a short visit.
What facilities are included? Compare electricity, water, parking, security arrangements, showers and other facilities you will use. Confirm the details for each listing.
How flexible is the agreement? Check cancellation, early departure and extension conditions. Price is only one part of the decision.
Is the price per berth or per metre?
Ask how the advertised charge is calculated. An operator may quote for a particular berth, vessel category, length or rental period.
If a rate is based on vessel length, confirm which measurement applies and whether there is a minimum charge. If it is based on a berth category, confirm that your vessel is accepted in that category.
Keep units consistent. Do not compare a weekly charge with a daily equivalent from an annual agreement without accounting for the full term.
Are marina utilities included?
Check the listing and quote. Electricity may be included, metered or charged separately. Water, parking and access devices may also have their own conditions.
Ask for the charging method before the stay. For metered services, find out how usage is measured and when it is billed. If an access fob requires a refundable deposit, check how and when it will be returned.
Do the same for any service you particularly need, such as a specified shore-power connection. “Power available” does not establish that the connection suits your boat or that consumption is included.
What booking fee applies on Marina Match?
As checked on 23 October 2026, Marina Match’s FAQ states that a 3.5% booking fee is added to the berth price and paid by the boater. Check the current fee and final booking total before paying. Marina Match fee information.
How can I calculate the total cost?
Use a simple breakdown. The example below is hypothetical, not a quote for any of the listings above.
Assume a berth costs AUD 60 per night for seven nights, a booking fee of 3.5% applies to the berth charge, and separately billed electricity totals AUD 21. Assume there are no other charges.
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Berth rental | 7 × AUD 60 | AUD 420.00 |
| Booking fee | 3.5% × AUD 420 | AUD 14.70 |
| Electricity | Assumed total for the stay | AUD 21.00 |
| Total stay cost | Rental + fee + electricity | AUD 455.70 |
If a separate refundable AUD 100 access deposit is also collected, the initial cash requirement would be AUD 555.70. The expected stay cost remains AUD 455.70 only if that deposit is returned in full.
For a real booking, use the operator’s quote and the final booking summary. Replace estimates with confirmed charges wherever possible.
What should a berth rental quote include?
Before comparing offers, make sure each quote identifies:
- Your boat’s dimensions and the space offered.
- Arrival and departure dates, plus any minimum term.
- The total berth charge and booking fees.
- Included facilities and compulsory extras.
- Usage charges, deposits and payment timing.
- Cancellation, early departure and extension terms.
If a headline price looks unusually low, check the minimum commitment first. If two totals look similar, compare the facilities and conditions that matter to your stay.

Use advertised prices to build a shortlist, then compare the full cost of suitable spaces for the period you actually need.
