Description

There is a small marina with limited facilities at Lake Taupō, managed by the Lake Taupō Harbourmaster and overseen by the Department of Internal Affairs. To join the waiting list for a berth, an application form must be completed and submitted to the Harbourmaster’s Office. Berth fees at Taupō Boat Harbour and Nukuhau Marina have been phased in over two years, while increases at Tokaanu and Motuoapa berths have been implemented over three years. This reflects work already completed in the northern areas and planned upgrades for Tokaanu, including recent jetty repair projects. For VHF communication between vessels, use repeater channel 61 as the standard calling frequency. After establishing contact, line-of-sight channels 6 or 8 may be used for conversation. For longer-distance communication, switch to repeater channel 63. If there is no response, return to channel 61.
