Description
Breakwater Marina is a large, full-service marina located in Townsville, Queensland, directly beside The Strand and close to Townsville CBD. Its sheltered position behind the Breakwater rock wall provides protection from waves, swell and prevailing winds, while offering direct access to the Coral Sea and nearby islands including Magnetic Island.
The marina has 325 berths ranging from 8m to 45m and accommodates both short-term and long-term stays, including liveaboard vessels. It caters to a wide range of boats, from smaller recreational vessels and sailing boats to multihulls and superyachts. The marina basin has depths of approximately 3–4m at LAT, with the entrance channel dredged to around 2m.
Breakwater Marina provides electricity and fresh potable water at the berths, with selected berths offering higher-capacity three-phase power. The marina also has a 24-hour fuel wharf supplying unleaded and diesel fuel, as well as gas and ice.
Security facilities include locked access gates, 21 CCTV cameras and nightly security patrols. Marina users also have access to modern bathrooms, laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi, parking, communal BBQ and garden areas, a social room, recycling facilities and dinghy berthing.
The marina is particularly convenient for visiting crews because of its central location. Restaurants, cafés, shops, accommodation and The Strand waterfront precinct are within walking distance, while the marina also offers a courtesy car service.
